New Westminster’s second solar garden is getting close to being sold out.
After the success of the first solar garden at the Queensborough Community Centre, the city approved plans to create a second array on the roof of the engineering operations building at the city’s works yard. Council approved a staff recommendation to proceed with installation of the second urban soar garden photovoltaic array.
According to a staff report, 80 per cent of the panels have already been assigned for the solar garden.
Steven Faltas, business process manager with the city’s electrical utility, said the current design has 150 to 160 panels, with construction expected to start in April or May of this year.
