The New Westminster Police are searching for the driver of a Cadillac that stopped at the scene of a hit-and-run on Saturday, Dec. 29.

The crash happened around 10:40 p.m. at Sixth Avenue and Seventh Street near the entrance to Royal City Centre. A 67-year-old New West woman was crossing Sixth when she was hit by a vehicle, according to police.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived.

Two people remained at the scene with the woman while first responders were on route. When firefighters arrived, one of the witnesses, a man driving a white Cadillac CTS, got back into his vehicle and left before speaking to anyone. Investigators are now searching for him.

“We would like to speak with the driver from the white Cadillac, and any other witnesses who may have seen the collision or have information about the suspect vehicle. We also ask that the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision call us to speak with investigators,” New Westminster Police Sgt. Jeff Scott said in a press release.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Police have spoken to the one witness who remained at the scene and have been reviewing video footage from the area.

Anyone with information about the crash, including the whereabouts of the driver of the Cadillac, is asked to call police at 604-525-5411 with the file number 2018-24616.
