Students, teachers and staff in New Westminster are headed back to the class today.
The New Westminster school district announced that school was back in session for Wednesday, Feb.13, early this morning. This comes the day after New Westminster had its first snow day in decades.
“Environment Canada has lifted the snowfall warning for the region and all classes are resumed. A huge shout out to our maintenance crew, who have worked tirelessly to keep our schools and properties safe,” read a notice by the district.

Neighbouring Burnaby and Surrey school districts are also open, along with a number of post-secondary schools, including UBC, SFU, BCIT, Douglas College, Langara College and Vancouver Community College.
