Charges are pending for a man and a woman, both from Prince George, after they were arrested in a suspected drug-trafficking investigation.

The 59- and 30-year-old, respectively, were taken into custody by Salmon Arm RCMP after several drugs and various firearms were found at a short-term rental property in Sorrento, a town near Shuswap Lake, as part of an ongoing investigation.

On Saturday night (March 20), following their arrest, Mounties obtained a search warrant at the residence.

They found loaded firearms, hundreds of grams of suspected illicit drugs and thousands of dollars in cash.

Items seized included:

  • More than 650 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • About 100 grams of suspected meth
  • More than 30 grams of suspected heroin
  • About 16 grams of suspected cocaine
  • Loaded .22 calibre handgun
  • .22 calibre sawed-off semi-automatic rifle
  • Sawed-off double-barrelled shotgun

The Prince George residents now face charges that are currently being assessed by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada.

They've been released for the time-being as police continue their investigation.
