A woman reported to Prince George Mounties she was sexually assaulted by a man yesterday afternoon (March 17).

As a result, police have opened an investigation and are hoping the public can provide more information on the incident.

In a news release this morning (March 18), the victim called RCMP around 3:20 p.m. of the sexual assault, which took place at Park and Thompson Drives in the Vanway area.

Both parties have been identified and are cooperating with the case, police explain.

Any and all outlets that may have witnessed the assault on Wednesday between 2:45 and 3:15 p.m. are being asked to come forward as the investigation is ongoing.

This includes eye-witnesses, video surveillance and dash-cam footage facing the intersection.

If you have evidence, or a clear account of the sexual assault, you're encouraged to contact Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300.
