LEST WE FORGET

The Port Moody Film Society will roll Peter Jackson’s documentary about WWI soldiers, called They Shall Not Grow Old, as part of a Remembrance Day tribute. The screening of the movie, which includes original footage from Britain’s Imperial War Museum archives, with audio from the BCC, takes place in the Inlet Theatre at Port Moody city hall (100 Newport Dr., Port Moody) starting at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 (cash or cheque only) plus $5 for an annual society membership.

Saturday, November 13

PHOTOMOTION

Check out the stunning images produced by members of the Port Moody-based Pacific Digital Photography Club that are in this year’s Photomotion, which runs Nov. 13 to Jan. 31. An online presentation for the second year, Photomotion is a visual/audio slideshow that’s free for viewing on virtual platforms during the pandemic; however, donations will be accepted. The group plans to return to the Inlet Theatre in Port Moody next year. The 2021 Photomotion display features the work of guest photographer Liron Gertsman.

SHOPPING FARE/FAIR

More than 150 vendors will be at Archbishop Carney Regional Secondary School (1335 Dominion Ave., Port Coquitlam) to sell seasonal gifts and gourmet items at its Christmas craft fair today, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $5. Full proof of vaccination is required for entry and face masks are required.

C’EST MAGNIFIQUE

Juno award nominee Joëlle Rabu, a two-time Jessie Richardson winner, joins pianist Nico Rhodes at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam) for two shows honouring the French singer Edith Piaf. Their performance is a musical revue that combines “some of those iconic ‘chansons réalistes’ of the Piaf era, as well as contemporary storytelling ballads sprinkled with intimate conversations of life’s sorrows and humour,” according to Evergreen’s website. Cabaret-style tables for two are $70, tables for three are $100 and tables for four are $125. The one-hour shows are at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

ARTISAN MARKET

Tour PoMoArts (2425 St. Johns St., Port Moody) to shop for handmade gifts in the eighth annual Winter Treasures Artisan Market. The holiday showcase includes pottery, jewlery, glass and paintings. It’s open on weekdays from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and, on weekends, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. And, at Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam), its Holiday Artisan Shop is now open.
