The second concert in the new Vancouver Chamber Music Society series at Anvil Centre is just a few weeks away.

The Project Ensemble is onstage on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m.

The concert features the piano quartet of Sergei Saratovsky, piano; Byungchan Lee, violin; Emilie Grimes, viola; and Zoltan Rozsnyai, cello.

They will perform Dvořák’s Dumky Trio and Brahms’ celebrated Piano Quartet in G Minor, as well as the poetic Canadian composition Give Me Phoenix Wings to Fly, by Kelly-Marie Murphy.

The four musicians bring a wealth of performance experience with them to the stage.

The Russian-born Saratovsky is the winner of numerous awards, including first place at the Porto International Piano Competition and the prize for Best Canadian Artist at the Montréal International Musical Competition. He has performed for audiences in Europe, Russia, Australia and North America, including appearances with a number of European, Canadian and Russian orchestras.

Grimes has been an active orchestral and chamber musician since she first began playing the viola at age 12. She has participated in numerous festivals, toured with the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra in Germany and has been a member of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra since 2012.

Rozsnyai also plays with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, where he has been the assistant principal cellist in 2001. He played for many years in the Canadian Opera Company and National Ballet orchestras, as well as performing as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Ontario.
