The Massey Theatre is serving up another Global Tea Room performance this weekend.
The Global Tea Room series, curated and hosted by local musician Cassius Khan, introduces the music and food of various cultures with a performance and tea. This weekend’s session, which is on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m., features Persian music, food and culture.
It features Peyman Rouhandeh on setar, an Iranian stringed musical instrument. Rouhandeh is a founding member of Diba Ensemble, a Vancouver-based music ensemble formed in 2014 with a focus on original compositions dedicated to the principles of Persian classical music.
Persian tea and sweets will be provided by Caravan Authentic Café and Restaurant.
It’s free, and everyone is welcome. Massey Theatre is at 735 Eighth Ave. Call 604-521-5900 for information.
