The Plaskett Gallery is embracing the many facets of the Pride movement with its new exhibition.

Love Out Loud, Images of Pride: Personal and Political is on at the gallery at Massey Theatre from Nov. 1 to Nov. 29.

This year, 2019, marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots in the U.S. that are widely viewed as the birth of the modern Pride movement.

“As a counterpoint to the commercialization and homogenization of the Pride movement that has been observed (and often criticized) in recent years, Love Out Loud reminds us that Pride is an infinite, multifaceted experience and that every LGBTQ2+ person has the right to decide what Pride means to them,” says a press release about the show. “In these times, it is as vital as ever that queer love does dare speak its name.”

The exhibition brings together works in a variety of mediums by artists depicting “queer love in all of its many facets,” as the release says.

The Plaskett Gallery is at the Massey Theatre, 735 Eighth Ave. It’s open 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, by appointment or during productions in the theatre. Call 604-517-5900 or see www.masseytheatre.com for more.
