Massey Theatre is inviting everyone in to enjoy the tea and music of cultures from around the world.

The theatre is kicking off a new Global Tea Room series on Sunday, Oct. 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. It’s free, and everyone is welcome.

Each month will feature a different culture, with a performance and tea, and the series will be hosted by Cassius Khan – a local resident and internationally renowned Indian classical musician recognized for his tabla playing and simultaneous ghazal singing.

The inaugural tea room event will feature Squamish Tea, with the music of Rebecca Duncan and beverages by Raven Hummingbird Tea.

Duncan is a Squamish language teacher and curriculum developer from the Squamish and Musqueam Nations of the Coast Salish Peoples. She has performed worldwide promoting language and culture, representing Coast Salish People through song, dance and storytelling.

Raven and Hummingbird Tea Co. is a family-owned business from the Squamish Nation. Owner and Indigenous plant expert T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss got her start selling Indigenous herbal teas on the pow wow circuit and has expanded her business to include craft fairs and stores in the Vancouver area.
