The Arts Council of New Westminster has postponed the start of the Last Mondays at the Movies series until January 2021 in the face of COVID-19.

New Westminster’s moviegoers will have to wait awhile longer to enjoy Last Mondays at the Movies again.

The Arts Council of New Westminster has announced the postponement of the 19th season of the movie series, which sees a variety of award-winning, independent and international films screen at Massey Theatre on the last Monday of each month.

The arts council has decided to postpone the 2020/21 season start until January 2021 in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and current B.C. health guidelines that prohibit public gatherings of more than 50 people.

“The public health and safety of our audience, volunteers and staff is our top priority,” the arts council said in a post on its website.

Anyone who purchased a 2019/20 season pass will receive a credit for the films cancelled from March to June; that credit will be applied to a 2021 season pass.

“We look forward to seeing you again at the Massey Theatre in January 2021,” said the post.
