If it’s not Christmas for you until Tiny Tim says, “God bless us, every one,” then you’ll need to put this one on your calendar.
City Stage New West is inviting everyone to turn out at the Anvil Centre on Thursday, Dec. 19 for the holiday edition of its Sips n’ Scripts reading series – featuring Charles’ Dickens A Christmas Carol.
Veteran actor-musician Dave Clothier will appear as Ebenezer Scrooge, and the rest of the roles will be read by actors and community members who volunteer to take part. People of all ages can show up to read a role, throw a snowball, join the Christmas sing-along, don a Dickensian costume piece – or just sit back and watch the fun.
As with all the Sips n’ Scripts nights, the Anvil Centre team is creating a featured “sip” for the occasion: Smoking Bishop, a warmly spiced wine punch that was reportedly loved by Dickens. There will also be free cocoa and goodies for kids.
All the fun takes place in the Anvil Centre’s first-floor lobby at 777 Columbia St., running from 7 to 9 p.m. It’s free, but register ahead – find the link at www.citystagenewwest.org or www.anvilcentre.com, or call 604-527-4640.
