Kids and families are invited to take a musical journey around the world this weekend.

River Market is presenting the next in its series of ArtStarts workshops on Sunday, Feb. 24. Originally announced as a hip hop workshop with Unity Charity, the event will now feature Around the World With Boris – featuring multi-instrumentalist Boris Sichon.

The audience will learn about and listen to about 25 musical instruments from his unique collection of more than 200 ethnic musical instruments, including the Russian bagpipe, Eastern European flutes, the Middle East dumbek, the Australian didgeridoo, the Indian table, the Turkish gong, Irish bones and the Russian xylophone.

He’ll perform twice, for 45 minutes each time, with shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Registration isn’t needed, but it’s a good idea to arrive early, since shows are often popular.

ArtStarts workshop take place upstairs at River Market, 810 Quayside Dr. For information, see www.artstarts.com/workshops.
