Two more candidates have entered the race for city council in New Westminster.

Incumbent councillor Jaimie McEvoy and political newbie Benny Ogden are the latest council candidates to step forward.

McEvoy is seeking his fourth term as councillor, a position he’s held for 10 years. Ogden, meanwhile, is running in his first civic election. Both candidates took part in an all-candidates meeting hosted by Women on Wednesdays, a local group aimed at encouraging more women to get involved in civic affairs.

Also running for city council in the upcoming civic election are: Chinu Das, Nadine Nakagawa, Daniel Fontaine, Paul McNamara, Bryn Ward, Mary Trentadue (incumbent) and Patrick Johnstone (incumbent).

Council, mayoral and school board candidates have until Sept. 14 to file their nomination papers. The election is on Oct. 20.
