UPDATE: Last remaining New Westminster care home outbreak declared over

The final active outbreak in New Westminster care homes, at Queen's Park Care Centre, was declared over Feb. 16.

For the first time in weeks, there are no active outbreaks at New Westminster care homes after the outbreak at Queen's Park Care Centre was declared over.

One resident died in that outbreak, which was announced over in a Feb. 16 press release from the B.C. Ministry of Health.

As of the last report from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (dated Feb. 16), that outbreak had 46 cases: 34 residents and 12 staff. 

The report reflects the situation as of 10 a.m. on Feb. 15.

A recent outbreak at Royal City Manor ended with three resident deaths.

The outbreak, which was declared over on Feb. 10, was listed in the BCCDC report as having 49 cases: 24 residents and 25 staff. 

Both the Queen's Park and Royal City Manor outbreaks were first declared on Jan. 24.

An acute-care outbreak in the rehabilitation unit at Queen's Park Care Centre is also still active, according to a Ministry of Health press release Feb. 17.
