Anvil Centre is normally a place folks head for conferences and arts and cultural activities but it's now being used as the home of the city's emergency operations centre because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

4. Treat yourself to a tasty meal at the Ukrainian Perogy Supper, returning from its summer hiatus on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Holy Eucharist Church Hall, 501 Fourth Ave. Perogy sales take place at the hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

6. Clean up Queensborough’s shoreline at this year’s fall cleanup event on Saturday, Sept. 28. Check-in is at 9:30 a.m. at Thompson Landing Park on South Dyke Road at Dockside Court. 8. Take the kids to Andy the Musical Scientist, this month’s ArtStarts program at River Market. This free program is on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., when Andy will demonstrate technology in music, scientific principles of sound, recycling in action, and even transform a spoon into a guitar.
