Why not visit the New Media Gallery at Anvil Centre this weekend and check out its current exhibit, Cartooney.

1. Check out Cartooney, the latest exhibit at the New Media Gallery in Anvil Centre, 777 Columbia St. The exhibit, which run until Feb. 2, features works by six international artists and explores the impact of animated cartoons. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a late opening until 8 p.m. on Thursdays.

Enjoy a fascinating discussion about Facebook’s role in Brexit – and the threat to democracy, when journalist Carole Cadwalladr presents a Ted Talk style presentation at Century House on Saturday, Jan. 11 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. A facilitated discussion follows the presentation. 3. Get cosy and relax after the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Why not don some cozy clothes (PJs and warm socks), light some candles or put on a fire, enjoy a hot beverage and read a good book. Need more ideas? Check out the History in Relief exhibition at The Gallery at Queen’s Park, featuring a collection of woodcut reliefs that depict historic and iconic locations and celebratory events in New Westminster. The exhibition, a partnership between the Queen’s Park Healthcare Foundation and the Arts Council of New Westminster, runs until Jan. 26. The gallery, located in Centennial Lodge, is open Wednesday from 1 to 8 p.m. and Thursday to Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
