Friday, Nov. 16 Group of Five and Friends Benevolent Society fundraiser for equipment at Royal Columbian Hospital, 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Centennial lodge in Queen’s Park.

The Group of Five and Friends Benevolent Society and the Rotary Club of New Westminster provided just over $7,500 to fund a children’s play area and mural next to Royal Columbian Hospital’s Ambulatory Care department. It's just one of many items the local group has been able to fund at Royal Columbian Hospital with the support of community members.

Friday, Nov. 16

Group of Five and Friends Benevolent Society fundraiser for equipment at Royal Columbian Hospital, 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Centennial lodge in Queen’s Park. Enjoy light refreshments, pruchase3 beverages at cash part and take part in live and silent auctions. Saturday, Nov. 17

Beyond One Voice: Building Compassionate Community Through Dialogue and Song, engaging and inspiring afternoon in which we will explore the  power of music within the context of grief and loss, 1:30 to 5 p.m., Douglas College, 700b Royal Ave., room 4650. This workshop is for those coping with grief and loss and for those in helping professions. No previous musical experience, skill or training required. Snacks will be provided. Christmas Tea and Sale, hosted by auxiliary to Dunwood Place (seniors housing), 1 to 2:30 p.m., 901 Colborne St. Everyone welcome to enjoy a cup of tea served by Hyack Ambassadors. Tickets at the door $2. Tables to rent for vendors are $10. For information, call Betty at 604-619-8455.

St. Peters Church winter bazaar, sponsored by the CWL, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., 330 Royal Ave. Come and find treasures galore and one-of-a-kind items at the knitting and sewing, white elephant, jewelry, Christmas décor, baking and silent auction tables. Lunch may be purchased tween 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Are you a man who is gay, bisexual or just not sure? Need a safe place to talk? HOMINUM Fraser Valley is an informal discussion and support group to help gay, bisexual or questioning men with the challenges of being married, separated or single. New Westminster Eagles 320 annual Kids Christmas Party, features snowball game, fish pond, candy count. Etc.
