Friday, April 5

Wine makers dinner at Piva Modern Italian, an evening of extraordinary food and wine, all proceeds benefiting Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation. Saturday, April 6

Community baby show, St. Aidan’s Presbyterian Church, 1320 Seventh Ave., 1 to 2:30 p.m. There will be a children’s clothing and toy swap meet, bring outgrown clothes and toys and take items in a larger size. Lord Kelvin Elementary School is having a Buck-a-bag Book Sale from 3 to 4:30 p.m., 1010 Hamilton St. The school’s parent advisory council is raising money to build a swing set for the community.

Saturday, April 13

Century House Association Annual Thrift Sale, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Century House, 620 Eighth St. Free admission. Find amazing treasures and household items at a great price.

Do you have something to donate?   If you have items, worthy of reselling, Century House will accept things like clothing, jewelry, kitchenware, household items, books plants, collectibles and children’s items from Saturday, April 6 to noon on Friday, April 12. Must be clean and in working order. If you are unsure whether we can accept a particular item, just give the office a call at 604-519-1066.

Easter bake sale, hosted by New Westminster’s Ukrainian community, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Holy Eucharist Church Hall, 501 Fourth Ave. The sale will feature paskas, babkas, pies, frozen perogies, cabbage rolls, Ukrainian sausage, fresh borscht, beet horseradish and more.

Knights Comics and Collectible Expo, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., St. Thomas More Collegiate, 7450 12th Ave., Burnaby. Vendor items include modern and vintage comics, Pokémon cards, toys, POP culture goods, vinyl LPs and more. Also includes raffles, door prizes, Superhero Foods, a student art exhibit and a new e-game competition. Entry is $4, free for children under six. Lord Kelvin Elementary School’s parent advisory council is hosting a spaghetti dinner and dance on Friday, April 26. Dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m., followed by a dance to DJ music from 7 to 9 p.m. Prizes and a raffle. Tickets are $3 each. Proceeds are going toward the parent advisory council’s efforts to raise money to build a new swing set for the community.

HOMINUM Fraser Valley is an informal discussion and support group to help gay, bisexual or questioning men with the challenges of being married, separated or single.
