Royal City Gogos' artisan sale returns to New Westminster

Save the Date: Nov. 1 - 3
Royal City Gogos
You'll find all kinds of goodies and great merchandise at the Royal City Gogos' annual Artisan Craft Fair, running Nov. 1 to 3 in New Westminster.

What’s happening?

The Royal City Gogos’ annual Artisan Craft Fair returns to New Westminster. Shoppers will find a great selection of local handmade fashion accessories, jewelry, food, soft furnishings, gifts and more.

Why should I go?

All proceeds from the Royal City Gogos’ Artisan Craft Fair go to the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmother to Grandmothers campaign, in solidarity with African grandmothers who are caring for children orphaned by AIDS. The Royal City Gogos say the Grandmothers Campaign has raised $35 million – and the effect at the grassroots level in Africa has been profound.

“Royal City Gogos’ Artisan Craft Fair also offers shoppers an abundance of ‘green’ products like produce bags, bamboo cutlery wraps and dryer balls,” said a press release from the Royal City Gogos. “Our products have a social impact too, as members volunteer their labour in support of African grandmothers caring for children orphaned by AIDS.”

If you are considering the social and environmental impact of your purchases – for yourself or for gifts – the fair is a chance to do that.

“Our sale appeals to ‘conscious consumers’ because our products are handmade locally by our members – your New West neighbours and friends,” said the press release. “Many of our products are made from upcycled and donated materials saved from the landfill and re-purposed into something beautiful or useful. Consider our cashmere mittens made from upcycled sweaters, our felted scarves made from repurposed sari fabric, or children’s tutus created from a caterer’s table runners.”

Did someone say Piña Colada?

Royal City Gogos are once again selling food mixes for soups, side dishes and cookies. You can shop the loaf station for a PiñaColada or a pear and ginger loaf. You’ll also be able to buy three kinds of biscotti, organic granola and exotic jams and spreads like blueberry Grand Marnier.

Is there anything new at this year’s sale?

Indeed there is. You can stop by the “Experience Tree” and shop for unique experiences like a star-gazing evening with a professional astronomer, a decluttering  session or a boat ride up Indian Arm – just a few of the fabulous experience options.
