Enjoy breakfast and help a New West kid this Wednesday

Community members have a chance to bring some joy to the lives of local children and youth – and start the day with a yummy breakfast. The annual New West Family Place and Purpose Society Toy Drive Breakfast is taking place on Wednesday, Dec.

New Westminster firefighters - and Santa Claus - have been known to help out at the annual pancake breakfast toy drive that helps provide gifts for kids and youth at New Westminster Family Place and the Lower Mainland Purpose Society for Youth and Families.

Community members have a chance to bring some joy to the lives of local children and youth – and start the day with a yummy breakfast.

The annual New West Family Place and Purpose Society Toy Drive Breakfast is taking place on Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 7 to 10 a.m. in the Paddlewheeler Pub in River Market. Breakfast is free with donation of an unwrapped toy for a child from ages zero to 16 of $15 value or cash donation.

Family Place will be giving out the toys at its annual holiday party on Dec. 19, so needs donations by Dec. 13 so they can be organized. Suggested gifts include: marbles and marble run; toy trains and train sets; dolls with milk bottles; musical instruments; kitchen toys and play food; Lego or Mega Bloks; Little People toys; puzzles, especially Melissa and Doug; make-believe items like costumes; and push or ride-on toys.

“It’s a toy or cash donation,” said Dana Osiowy, executive director of New Westminster Family Place. “If you can’t make it, you can designate dollars online.”
