The New Westminster Public Library wants to know what you want from your library. To help guide the library board's strategic planning process, the library is conducting an online survey. For sale from the library, stop by the New Westminster Public Library to cool off this summer and check out the bargains to be had at the library's ongoing book sale. Discarded books and gift books that aren't needed in the library are sold for bargain prices ranging from 25 cents to $2. Special books have special prices. In addition to a wide selection of paperbacks, which are great for taking to the beach, a differing topic is featured every two weeks - art, music and photography  (Aug. 29 to Sept. 14). All proceeds go toward special projects for the benefit of library users. The New Westminster Public Library is at 716 Sixth Ave.

Royal City Concert Band welcomes new members to join us in making great music and performing throughout Metro Vancouver. Volunteer literacy tutors, sought to work with the Douglas College I-CARE program, which helps English-speaking adults learn to read and write. ESL Conversation Circles at the library, drop-ins for adults who want to meet people and practise speaking English. Session for all adults take place every Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; sessions for women only take place every Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. (children are welcome).
