One bottle of one of the world’s rarest and finest whiskies debuted in Canada yesterday, and it is being sold in a Vancouver store.

Indeed, the Balvenie Fifty: Marriage 0962 is in a league of its own. Not only is it rare (there are only 110 across the world), but it is extremely expensive.

And just how expensive is extremely expensive?

Try a jaw-dropping $75,000 at its lowest selling price – with some bottles selling for a whopping $100,000.

This highly anticipated spirit debuted at JAK’S Beer Wine Spirits in Vancouver on Thursday, December 6. It is the only bottle in Canada, and it is remarkably crafted and rare.

“Marrying aged whisky stocks is undoubtedly one of the most challenging, yet enjoyable facets of my role as The Balvenie Malt Master,” comments David C. Stewart, Malt Master, The Balvenie.

The impressive spirit is comprised of highly rare liquid that comes from four American Oak casks aged 50 years or over. What’s more, marrying whisky of this age is a complex and challenging task.

“Stewart selected four casks into an exquisite whole that combines and enhances their many delicate notes. The final liquid, bottled at 41.6% ABV, combines malt and oak with brown sugar, toffee and ground ginger on the nose, followed by further oaky notes, maple syrup, tangy citrus and classic honeyed Balvenie sweetness to taste. The finish is long and lingering, with dried fruits and vanilla oaky spice notes,” describes Balvenie.

Can’t afford the $75,000? The Balvenie offers a range of delicious single malts that are all rich, luxuriously smooth and underpinned by a distinctive honeyed character.

JAK’S Beer Wine Spirits is home to the prized bottle and is located in South Granville at 2658 Granville Street in Vancouver.
