Athletes pick up medals at Winter Games

Skier comes second in women's giant slalom, while gymnast picks up two medals, including silver in individual vault

Kristina Natalenko won a silver medal in alpine skiing a the Canada Winter Games.

The New Westminster athlete, who belongs to the Grouse Mountain Tylee Ski Club, picked up the second-place medal in the girls’ giant slalom last Sunday. Natalenko, who won the slalom and giant slalom at the provincials this season, also placed fifth in the Super G.

In artistic gymnastics, Burnaby’s Itzia San Roman shared a team bronze medal in the women’s event. San Roman also placed runner-up behind Shaelyn Brown of Alberta in the individual vault.
