The City of New Westminster has released a draft of its official community plan, which will provide a vision of the city to 2041 and will guide future growth. Community members are invited to review and provide feedback on the draft OCP at two upcoming drop-in open houses:

* Saturday, Feb. 25, noon to 3 p.m., Century House, Douglas Fir room, 620 Eighth St.

* Tuesday, Feb. 28, 5 to 8 p.m., New Westminster Public Library auditorium, 716 Sixth Ave.

“It’s our last opportunity to get feedback before we refine the document and start the adoption process,” said planner Lynn Roxburgh.

Following consultation, staff will make some final edits to the official community plan document and present it to council for approval.

In addition to a land-use map that show the types and locations of land uses that would be considered in the city, the plan also includes information about policies on a range of topics: community and individual well-being; culture; economy and employment; energy, emissions and climate change; environment and natural areas; hazard management; heritage; housing; parks and recreation; public realm and urban design; transportation and accessibility; and utilities and services infrastructure.
