If you’re hoping to get a grant from city hall, you’ll want to mark Sept. 23 on your calendar.

The city is hosting two workshop for organizations, event companies or individuals who are planning an event in New West or requesting a community grant from the city.

The first information session, taking place on Wednesday, Sept. 23 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Anvil Centre, is for groups interested applying for festival, heritage, environment, community, arts and culture, child care, city partnership or amateur sports grants. While it’s not mandatory for grant applicants to attend, attendees are encouraged to review the application forms and bring questions for open discussion.

The second information session, which is being held that same night, is for anyone who is currently organizing events or is interested in holding events in the city. City staff, including representatives from fire and police departments, will attend this session.

Information session number two is taking place on Wednesday, Sept 23 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Anvil Centre, room 417, 777 Columbia St. Agenda items could include components of a site plan, developing emergency plans, crowd management versus crowd-control planning, event insurance, food trucks, temporary change to a liquor license/beer garden, permits and fees, and marketing and communications.
