New West's U15 A1 team are this year's provincial champions in their division.

The New Westminster Minor Hockey Association’s U15 A1 team was “relentless” this season – and it paid off.

The team recently went undefeated in its entire provincial’s series in Quesnel – and now has the title of U15 Tier 3 Provincial Champions!

“It was a banner year for the team winning the flight 2 league banner, the Final 4 Championship banner and they were selected as U15 A Team Achievement Banner winners,” said team manager Marilyn Araujo. “We had incredible coaching with Brian Di Stefano, Nigel Creightney and Dante Ballarin. As one of parent's put it best, this team has been ‘relentless’ this year. They overcame adversity together and came out victorious in the end.”

The Royals cleaned up in the round robin portion of the provincials, beating Prince George 8-1, Dawson Creek 11-0 and Powell River 6-2. In their semi-final match against Quesnel, New West was victorious in a 6-1 game.

In the March 20 finals, New West defeated Nelson – who were also undefeated in its pool – 6-3.
