East Columbia Eggstravaganza offers some Easter fun in New West

Sapperton merchants will be handing out treats at the two-day Eggstravaganza that includes a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Families looking for some Easter and spring break fun are invited to hop over to Sapperton.

Following the success of their Trick or Treat East Columbia Street event on last October, Coun. Tasha Henderson and Katrina Tsangarakis, owner of Zesty Lemon Clothing Co. in Sapperton, have once again joined forces to host some holiday fun.

A social media post from Zesty Lemon said Sapperton businesses are “eggcited” to welcome folks to the East Columbia Eggstravaganza. It’s taking place on Thursday, March 28 (today) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

More than 40 Sapperton businesses will welcome folks to their shops on East Columbia Street (between Braid Street and Strand Avenue). Participating shops will be identified by the colourful balloons out front – or the Eggstravaganza poster on the window or door.

In addition to getting from treats from Sapperton merchants, kids are invited to do some arts and crafts at a table set up outside of Cap’s Bicycle Shop.

The Eggstravaganza includes kids’ activities outside Cap’s Bicycle Shop, photos with the Easter Bunny and a chance to win prizes from local businesses.

Maps of businesses participating in the scavenger hunt are availed at Cap’s. Volunteers will also be outside the Sapperton Save-on-Foods handing out maps and scavenger hunt details.
