Burnaby Now, New West Record photographer up for Ma Murray awards

Work by freelance photographer Jennifer Gauthier has been nominated by the British Columbia and Yukon Community Newspaper Association.

Local freelance photojournalist Jennifer Gauthier has been honoured with three Ma Murray nominations by the British Columbia and Yukon Community Newspaper Association (BCYCNA).

Gauthier's work for the Burnaby NOW and New Westminster Record has been named in three categories.

Her portrait of young Burnaby skateboard champ Oli Ward in action (featured above) is up for best portrait/personality photo.

Gauthier was on hand to capture the moment a fireball exploded at the end of the Canada Day fireworks display at Central Park. Her photo of the "gas bomb" finale is nominated in the spot news category.
