Salty the Seagull from the Port of Vancouver will be dropping by the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 18.

2. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Friday, March 17 at one of the local watering holes, where you’re sure to find a touch of the Blarney. Some suggestions? How about the Paddlewheeler Pub in River Market, the Union Jack Public House or River’s Reach in the uptown, the Fireside Public House or Castle Neighbourhood Grill in Sapperton, and Judge Begbie’s Tavern, the Heritage Grill, the Terminal Pub or Hops Northwest Pub in the downtown. Be warned, they’ll be busy with folks celebrating St. Paddy’s Day.

3. Hop aboard the Native Paddlewheeler for its St. Patrick’s Day pub night, where a DJ will be playing dance tracks and Celtic favourites. 4. Keep the St. Patrick’s Day fun going at this month Pride Night at the Met Bar and Grill, which features food and drink specials, giveaways and more. Hosted by Big Surf, this is a GLBT and friendly event taking place on Saturday March 18 starting at 7:30 p.m. on at 411 Columbia St.

Take the kids to the Royal City Literary Arts Society’s Children’s Chronicles on Saturday, March 18 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Island Room at the Queensborough Community Centre, 920 Ewen Ave. Hosted by Nasreen Pejvack and featuring by Duane Lawrence (author of Sammy Squirrel & Rodney Raccoon), the event includes reading, discussion and writing for kids aged eight to 12.

6. Check out a performance of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Laura C. Muir Performing Arts Theatre at Douglas College, 700 Royal Ave. The production by the college’s theatre and stagecraft and event technology departments runs March 17 to 24.
