While the Christmas creep is alive and well in retail establishments, it wasn't to blame for an unseasonably early holiday display in Hyack Square.
Hyack Square is normally decorated for the holiday season, but filming of the Runaway Princess production on Sept. 16 had the plaza looking festive a little earlier in the year than usual. Citizens reported seeing Santa (more than one, in fact) on Columbia Street, and seasonal décor (including fake snow) adorned parts of Columbia Street and Hyack Square. Large tents containing a Christmas set were part of the action.
